The Weekly Report – SF Recap & Championship Preview

This is violently overdue, but I have taken my days off literally and chose to only play FIFA. Luckily for you all, I am back at work today so that means it is blog time.

Semi-Final Recap

Coop Protects the Goose Egg

An absolute shit pumping in the semi-finals as NIM absolutely obliterated the Sad Dads. Amari Cooper’s all-time performance coupled with JJeff’s recapture of form was the perfect recipe for NIM to grab a title berth. Despite NIM’s TE getting 0 fucking points, they were just too much to handle on the day and the Sad Dads really never had a shot. Brock Purdy’s Sad Dads’ debut was an absolute disaster class. I REALLY want to try and talk about this matchup a lot, but it was such a fucking blowout that there’s very little to touch on. The Sad Dads were a great team and have the future build fully in-tact. It’s a tough exit but their future looks VERY bright.

Didn’t Really Digg That

TVB dodged a massive bullet when the Batgirls were dethroned in Round 1 which allowed them to avoid the highflying Nine Inch Males. Their Semi-final performance was a bit flat, but it was enough to get the job done. The Funkles suffered a brutal blow when Waddle got hurt early on in the game, but the biggest issue was the fact that only 2 non-QB players got double digit points. It was an extremely poor showing from a team that put on an absolute clinic in Round 1 but sometimes you blow your load too early and that’s what happens. But honestly, cumming early feels really good sometimes. TVB have to be happy to make it to the title game but nerves will be there as their current run of form has not been great.

Well well well. We are finally here. The biggest game of the season takes place this week and the stage is officially set. As many of this year’s matchups, these teams have had drastically different seasons. TVB have spent a majority of the year as the clear-cut favorite and top dog of the Super League while NIM’s well-documented pendulum season has seen them sneak their way into the final. Here are some interesting stats heading into this matchup using their most-recent run of form as a litmus test for how they matchup:

  • NIM: 4-1 in their last 5; Averaging 151.47 points for
  • TVB: 4-1 in their last 5; Averaging 146.77 points for

In summary, NIM are fucking HOT at the moment. They’ve put up Top 2 PF in the last two weeks and have been surging behind some bigtime performances. Amari Cooper’s love for Joe Flacco paid massive dividends in the semi-finals while James Cook’s explosion in the first round was more than enough to get the result. Everyone appears to be clicking at the right time making them a serious threat to the throne. TVB, on the other hand, have looked a bit vulnerable. Their PF during their last few weeks has been a bit of a red flag. They benefitted HEAVILY from the Funkles upset of TBB as they would have gotten crushed by NIM in the semis had it worked out that way. Diggs & Adams’ insane decline over recent weeks has created a huge hole in the team while their RB room’s depth has started to show its’ colors. Let’s break this matchup down positionally. Obviously, this is a fluid-situation but I think it will provide more clarity on where these teams stand heading into the week.

  • Quarterback: Dak and Mahomes is a pretty solid matchup at the QB position. Dak is currently QB3 on the year while Mahomes is QB7. Both have pretty soft matchups in Week 17 but I give the edge to Dak & TVB as they are likely going to be in a shootout with the high-flying offense of Detroit.
  • Runningback: NIM are throwing out 4 RBs while TVB are sticking to their typical 2 RB lineup. TVB’s RB form at the moment leaves alot to be desired but they do have some realtively soft matchups heading into the week. NIM’s group have some brutal matchups with Cook against the Pats, Kamara against the Bucs & Conner up against the Birds. That being said, NIM’s back have proved their worth all season and I give them the edge.
  • Wide Receiver: TVB will once again trot out their 5 WR set while NIM are sticking with what they know and starting 3 WRs. While TVB have the studs, I cannot trust Diggs at the moment. On the other hand, NIM can’t rely on Amari Cooper to get 50+ every week so a big week from JJeff will be needed. The battle between Kupp and Puka will be very intresting as it would be a scenario where one feasts during the other‘s famine. I genuinely mean this, I like NIM’s group on current form alone.
  • Tight End: LMAO come on. TVB have a massive edge here.

PREVIEW & PICK: The Grand Daddy of them all. The game that every Super League team dreams about. While last year TVB were the David in this matchup, they now stand as the Goliath. These teams are very much even on paper as their strong areas complement one another. Back-to-back champs would suck so NIM stun the world and grab the Cup.

I will see you all very soon for what will be the final blog of the year. Hopefully this allows me to be more productive at work.

Sincerely AND With Love,

Your Beloved Commissioner
